The Hate U Give by: Angie Thomas I do not support the banning or restricting of books. I understand that some books may reference or seem to support something that many consider inappropriate. That is no reason to ban people from reading it, books are meant to share a story and authors use these stories to convey there ideas. Banning books is like telling someone that they are not allowed to learn something because someone else said no. You may not want people reading those books at a certain age, but that doesn’t mean no one should be allowed to read it. The book I chose is “The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas and I think it should not have been banned. The Hate U Give was banned because it was seen as “Anti-Cop”, used profanity and had references to drug use and sex. The School Library Journal stated
