I believe in the copyright laws needing to be tougher. Copyright laws are only becoming harder to enforce as time goes on and more people are sharing things on the internet. Many people believe that copyright laws are out dated and restrict peoples creativity, but that is just not true. Our creativity is our own, we can gain inspiration from another's work or learn something from someone else's research. Our work is ours and their work is theirs, and we need to respect that and give them credit for their creativity. Some people who post their work on the internet is copyrighted because people using their work is their major income and they depend on it. If they don't get their compensation they will be out a job.
It isn't fair for someone to spend a lot of hard work and time in making something, like a song, and as soon as it gets put on the internet everyone can access it. People try to go around copyright laws and when something is requested to be taken down it is often already too late. It may be taken down from one site but someone else already had access to it and can just repost it. This is one of the reasons copyright laws need to be strengthened. People should not have to worry that if they don't want everyone to be able to access, that everyone can access it. In school we use work that is copyrighted as creative commons and fair use. We do credit the person who made the work in our citations. Works that are copyrighted as creative commons or fair use are okay to use for certain educational purposes, such as school. People have their own preferences on what they want other people to be able to use. If it is labeled as creative commons or fair use then that is their choice to let more people be able to use it.
